Home Health
High Quality Medical Care in Your Own Home
Children generally don’t like staying at the hospital and parents typically like for them to be home so they can spend as much time together as possible. At East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, we do not keep children as inpatients any longer than they need to be. If your child has a serious medical condition but does not need round-the-clock care, we may recommend you make use of our home health care services.
Home health care is provided based on the child's needs. Once orders are received and it is determined that the child’s needs can be met by Home Health, arrangements will be made for services to begin.
Commitment You Can Rely On
Some parents are nervous about taking their child away from the hospital where doctors are always a few feet away. Rest assured, we would not recommend a child receive home care services unless we truly believed their recovery could be better facilitated in a familiar environment. Our knowledgeable staff will provide thorough teaching to prepare you for the transition to home. Our home health care staff is made up of dedicated professionals who realize they need to be on-call for when you need them.
Services that Home Health care provides include:
- Medical equipment
- Nursing care
- Social Work
- Prescriptions and medications
- Physical, speech and occupational therapies
- Feeding/enteral services
- Dietitian
Being referred to home health care is, generally, a good thing. It means you get to spend more time with your child and that their condition no longer requires constant monitoring from a nurse or doctor.
