Nurse Residency Program

Pediatric Nurse Training for the Next Generation of Nurses

The Pediatric Nurse Residency program at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital is a highly competitive year-long orientation program for recent nursing graduates to those with less than one year of experience. The program begins with a specially designed classroom orientation followed by working closely with an experienced preceptor on the unit. The program allows novice nurses to build upon and utilize existing knowledge and skill as they progress towards becoming proficient pediatric nurses.

Qualifications

  • One year or less of nursing experience
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, Baccalaureate or Associate degree accepted

What to Expect

This paid Pediatric Nurse Residency program is a highly supportive and engaging experience that includes didactic classroom learning opportunities, simulation and hands-on learning. Nurse Residents expand their clinical knowledge and experience while continuously strengthening their skills as they develop competency in pediatric nursing.
