Genetic Disorders
What is genetic consultation at East Tennessee Children's Hospital?
If your child has or is at risk for developing a genetic disorder, our team of experts provides professional, family-centered support in a bright, kid-friendly atmosphere.
Children may need genetic consultation if they:
- Were born with a disorder, birth defect or disability
- Received abnormal test results that suggest a genetic condition
- Have a family history that increases their risk of getting a genetic disorder
Our genetic professionals include doctors and counselors who specialize in genetics, as well as nurses, psychologists and social workers. This team provides in-person evaluations to better diagnose, confirm or rule out a genetic condition.
