UT Student Msgana Tells Her Story as a Children's Hospital Volunteer

Tell Us Your Story UT Student Msgana Tells Her Story as a Children's Hospital Volunteer

In Her Own Words

My name is Msgana and I have been a volunteer at ETCH for two and a half years, all thanks to my fellow volunteer and teammate Callie who introduced me to Child Life! I am now a senior at UTK majoring in neuroscience with a minor in public health graduating in May. My main goal in joining was to find a community I could consistently serve with kids because I plan to go into pediatrics as a doctor one day. However, my time here has given me so much more than I expected!

I have rotated in different positions and learned so much about the behind the scenes of how volunteer services work, trial and error on how to comfort and entertain patients, and overall grown in confidence in my ability to interact with patients.

Outside of serving here, I am a part of UT's cross country/track program and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for which I also serve, and I love to do arts and crafts like pottery, bake, read, and thrift shop with my friends!
