Brandon's Story as a Children's Hospital Chaplain
In His Own Words
My name is Brandon J. Moore, and I am a Staff Chaplain. My role is to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients, families, and staff. My “why” stems from a belief that everyone needs to be heard, loved, cared for, and to know that someone is with them in difficult and uncertain times. Also, I LOVE to celebrate the many success stories and celebrations of patients, families, and staff I see each day!
In my short time at ETCH, I have had many incredible experiences including marrying a baby’s parents on discharge day (see below), participating as a Camp Eagle’s Nest counselor, and even dressing like Steve Urkel at the request of a patient! I ride tricycles with the kiddos, take pies to the face (also see below), and have stickers at the ready—whatever it takes to foster these valuable relationships!
In my spare time, I love to spend time with family and friends, travel, learn new things, listen to music, and be outdoors. Currently, a lot of my spare time is spent working on my Doctorate in Integrative Chaplaincy at Vanderbilt University as I strive to continue to learn and grow in my profession.
Before going into chaplaincy, I had a career as an award-winning music educator and a church youth minister. ETCH feels like home because my job allows me to continue my commitment to support young people and their families one child at a time.
