VP Passes the Torch for Institutional Advancement
A New Era in Giving, Marketing and Volunteering
Carlton Long, VP of Institutional Advancement
For the past 11 years I have had the pleasure of collaborating with the generous donors who support East Tennessee Children’s Hospital and have led a talented group of employees in the Development, Marketing and Volunteer Services departments. These teams have supported efforts to raise approximately $100 million in the past 11 years to improve the health care of children in East Tennessee.
My life has been enriched by the relationships I have made with many of you and with the families and patients that we serve at the hospital and in our East Tennessee region. If every relationship were a seed, I would have been blessed with a beautiful garden. The time has come for me to retire and to enjoy that garden. I look forward to savoring the fruits of an incredibly rewarding career and to focusing on my grandchildren and family.
Adam Cook
New VP of Institutional Advancement
With my upcoming retirement and following a national search, we have identified an incredibly talented individual as my replacement – Adam Cook.
As a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of experience, Adam comes to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital having served most recently as Chief Development Officer for Mercy Health where he oversaw fundraising strategy for 16 foundations across the organization’s multi-state footprint. Adam graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies with an emphasis in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications. He is a Certified FundRaising Executive (CFRE) and has served as a guest speaker and contributor for several higher education courses and nonprofit leadership seminars.
“My family and I are thrilled to be joining the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital family," Adam has shared. "We are excited to serve alongside so many who have made the hospital and the greater-Knoxville community such special places. We can’t wait to get started!”
Adam, along with his wife Amy and their two daughters (Molly Belle and Chloe), will be joining the Knoxville community later in October. I will be helping with the upcoming transition of welcoming Adam to our community, now through my retirement on December 1st.
Jennifer Lamb
Director of Development
In addition to hiring Adam, we have hired a new Director of Development, Jennifer Lamb. Prior to coming to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Jennifer spent 20 years in various development roles at George Washington University, the University of Kansas Medical Center, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and most recently at George Mason University. She has secured major gifts for these organizations, developed strong corporate partnerships programs, increased the endowment, conducted capital campaigns, and organized events. Jennifer and her husband Russell are excited to return to the East Tennessee area with their two college-age children.
East Tennessee Children's Hospital has a rich legacy of donors and community support, and I am excited for what this next chapter will bring to our organization and for the next 85 years
