The COVID-19 pandemic is having a profound impact on healthcare providers, their patients, families and staff. In the midst of the pandemic, generous community members have reached out to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital offering help. We are so grateful for this outpouring of support. If you would like to make a donation to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital to support our COVID-19 efforts, as well as our patients, families and staff, please read the information below. How Can I Make A Financial Gift?
Use this link on our website to make your gift. Your gift will go to the greatest needs of our hospital.
Masks, Personal Protection Equipment, Medical Equipment
Q: Are you out of masks?
A: No, we are not out of masks – but to prepare for the days ahead, we are requesting mask donations for the continued safety of our workforce and patient families. Through this kind of community partnership, we will be better equipped to stay ahead of the demand. If we have a surplus, we will share these donated items with other hospitals in the area.
Q: What kind of masks, other personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies do you still need?
A: We will accept any of these as donations:
- Screen Wipes
- Hydrogen Peroxide Wipes
- Sani-Wipes
- Clorox Wipes
- Bleach
- Hand Sanitizer (non fragrance)
- Isolation/Surgical gowns ( especially Level 2 surgical gowns all sizes)
- Face Shields
- Safety Goggles (the kind that fit over eye glasses)
- Masks (Surgical, Isolation, or Procedural)- any kinds
- KN95 Masks
- N95 Masks
- N99 Masks
- R95 Masks
- P95 Masks
- Gloves
- Lunch box size paper bags
- Large grocery size paper bags
- Cloth face masks
Q. Where do I bring these donated items listed above?
A. Take the donations listed above to our Supply Chain department. The loading docks and entrance to this area are located in the North Tower on the White Ave. side of the hospital between 21st and 20th streets.
Q: I have contacts with suppliers and manufacturers who produce masks and other products; who can I put them in touch with?
A: Please email our supply chain representative Molli Harris at MLHarris@etch.com.
Q: Do you need hand sewn masks?
A: We will accept any type of face mask.
Q: What kind of medical equipment do you need?
A: We are in need of cleaning equipment for rooms and instruments, refrigeration for our Lab to store COVID-19 tests until sent to testing labs, and equipment to set up Central testing sites. Donating on our website will help us purchase all needed equipment.
Support for Workforce and Patient Families
Q: Can I donate gift cards for patient families?
A: Yes. Gift cards that our patient families need most are Walmart, Target, Grocery Stores, gas cards. Cards are distributed to families in need through our Social Work Department. Email us for more information. cmlong@etch.com

Q: Can I bring meals or homemade treats to the hospital for staff and families?
A: We cannot accept any homemade meals, cookies or treats.
Q: How can a food provider (like a restaurant or grocery store) donate meals to workforce members and patient families?
A: We can accept food from restaurants and commercial kitchens. To arrange delivery, contact Volunteer Coordinator Cheryl Allmon at CAllmon@etch.com.
Q: Can I drop off other items at the hospital for patients — like toys, homemade blankets, craft kits or handmade cards?
A: Yes, please call our Volunteer Services office prior to dropping items off at 865-541-8136.
Q: Can I donate toys to patients?
A: Yes, new toys are needed and we would appreciate your donations. You can purchase toys via our Amazon Wish List. Amazon delivers these items to the hospital.

General Questions
Q: Can I help out by volunteering?
A: Out of an abundance of caution for our volunteers, patients and workforce, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital is unable to bring new volunteers into the hospital at time.
Q: What can my company do to support East Tennessee Children’s Hospital?
A: As well as the options listed above, making a financial donation is very helpful so that we can purchase needed equipment, support new services we are providing and purchase items that are not being donated.
Q: Does East Tennessee Children’s Hospital need volunteers to donate blood?
A: East Tennessee Children’s Hospital isn’t accepting blood donations onsite, although we encourage anyone who is able to donate blood to contact Medic Regional Blood Center located at 1601 Ailor Ave. in Knoxville, TN. Their number is 865-524-3074.
Q: Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?
A: When a financial gift is made, a tax receipt/thank you letter is created and sent to the donor. For in-kind donations, the supporter will receive a letter stating the item that was donated. This serves as a tax receipt.
