Children's Hospital Physicians Achieve New Certification
Two Children's Hospital hospitalists recently earned the first ever Pediatric Hospital Medicine Board Certifications in the nation.
Dr. Julia Arana and Dr. Priya Gyani passed the board exam in November, which was the first time the exam has ever been offered by the American Board of Pediatrics. This subspecialty certification is new to the American Board of Pediatrics, and the next examination will not take place until 2021.
This accomplishment provides Children's Hospital with two board-certified pediatric hospitalists. Hospitalists are doctors who devote their practice to caring for children who are hospitalized. Patients who are admitted to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital may be assigned a hospitalist, whose entire focus is caring for them during their stay and helping families navigate the complex hospital setting.
Congratulations to our two physicians for achieving this new certification, and for continuing to set East Tennessee Children’s Hospital apart as an expert pediatric healthcare provider in our region.
