In March 2004, my seven-month-old daughter, Loren Grace, was diagnosed with a rare, genetic brain disorder called Miller-Dieker Lissencephaly Syndrome. Her condition requires a great deal of specialized care and provides our family with opportunities to interact with many of the departments at Children's Hospital.
She has received care and services from the Emergency Department, the Neurology Lab, Radiology, Inpatient Surgery, Respiratory Therapy, the PICU, Home Health Care and the Rehabilitation Center, just to name a few. With the incredible care she has received at Children's Hospital, she has beaten many odds and continues to be an amazing blessing and inspiration to our family and community.
As a member of the Family Advisory Council, I hope that our experiences with Loren Grace's special journey benefit other families who seek care at Children's Hospital.
