“Whoadeo” Event at Dixie Stampede

7/26/2012

A fun and free prize-filled event is set for Saturday, September 29 at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge. The Whoadeo is open to children ages three to 12 and features stick horse competitions, a parade of horses, and costume contests in the Dixie Stampede arena and a free outdoor carnival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Children will participate in three age groups:  ages 3-5; 6-9 and 10-12.  Every Whoadeo participant (ages three to 12) receives a free Dixie Stampede admission ticket to the 6 p.m. dinner show (based on availability) on September 29 with the purchase of an adult ticket.

This is the sixth year that the Dixie Stampede has partnered with Food City stores, Pepsi and Dollywood for the fun-filled “Whoadeo,” and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital joins the list of partners for the 2012 event.

Children may register for the Whoadeo on Saturday, September 29, beginning at 8 a.m. at Dixie Stampede located on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.  Starting in September, pre-registration also will be available at www.foodcity.com where the registrant earns “school bucks” for his or her designated school.

The Parade of Horses and stick horse races begin at 10 a.m. in the facility’s arena.  The only requirement to compete in the Whoadeo is a stick horse which can be purchased or homemade.  Contestants will compete for first, second and third place ribbons in each competition in each of three age brackets—ages 3-5, 6-9 and 10-12—culminating in a Whoadeo grand prize trophy winner.

All children must be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian.  Families are invited to attend the Whoadeo carnival from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Dixie Stampede parking lot.  Food City will provide complimentary hotdogs, and Pepsi will provide soft drinks.  Each Whoadeo participant also receives a Kid’s Club backpack from Food City (while supplies last) which includes Food City coupons, area business and attractions coupons, and a free Dollywood one-day children’s admission ticket.
